This class is meant to:
  • introduce and/or refresh a Processwork lens to working and being with groups and the world inside and out.
  • create a space and time where we as a group explore what we are learning by applying it to our experience as a group.
  • be a reminder of what moves us as facilitators and how it shapes our facilitation style
  • provide an understanding of core Processwork beliefs of deep democracy and following dreaming process and practice them
  • begin to develop awareness of our and other’s experiences of power and how we use it towards ourselves, others and the world.
This class will have a practice lab and community/world application options depending on the interest and passion of the class participants: we will meet monthly for six months to practice and apply class learning and will create a community event together based on the interest of those gathered.

“I am inspired and moved to offer the class following my experience of world work seminar in Greece in April, a large group application of Processwork group work, with 540 people gathered together from over 50 countries working together on world issues of refugees, race, gender, economy, sexual orientation, colonialism, creating a space to be together and explore the issues of the world outside as they appear among us-this is a need and a aspiration I have coming back into the field in the US and Portland, with its agonizing history and present political climate.” – A. Social marginalization and low rank leads to life challenges and struggles which leads to ill-health. The unequal distribution of social life conditions creates health disparities and the cumulative impact of our inequitable social contracts kills people.

Looking at the healh challenges of underprivileged community members in Portland, Oregon, we will discuss concrete steps to lead change in the important diversity and health equity issues.

About Pierre Morin: Pierre Morin, MD, PhD i s the author of Health-in-Sickness, Sickness-in-Health. He is an international Process Work trainer and clinical director of a refugee mental health clinic. He has always been interested in health as well as in approaches that facilitate awareness in health care for individual professionals, patients, and health care administrators. As a medical facilitator he believes that communication and relationships are basic principles in health care. He recognizes the many competing subsidiary issues that need to be addressed in a communicative dialogue (i.e. rising health care costs, health disparities).

LEARNING ABOUT OUT-OF-ORDINARY STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS AND HOW TO ENGAGE WITH THEM

Ingrid Rose, PhD
Thursday | September 1st | 7 pm – 8 pm

How do we make contact and join with those who are in far-out states of consciousness such as those found in deep altered states, dementia, coma and near-death? Medical research is only just beginning to acknowledge that the person in deeply altered, vegetative or comatose states, still shows a degree of consciousness. Methods of making contact are generally still being developed.

Processwork, however, has an already established toolbox of techniques and interventions that are used not only to access the profound experiences often found within these states, but to also cultivate an awareness for all concerned of the deep meaning which may be held there.

In this talk, Ingrid Rose, will share with you some theoretical concepts, case studies and examples, highlighting how Processwork methods are used and how they embrace all experiences as valuable for the individual and those around them even when those experiences are disturbing. Not only do we look at how to value these often uninvited guests, but also how to engage with them to unravel deep insights into the unique process of each individual.
